In a speech in Bradford, the Conservatives unveiled measures to tackle forced marriages. The proposals include raising the age limit to 21 for both spouse and sponsor for marriages from abroad, making spouses register before going abroad to marry and producing awareness packs for schools to deal with the problem. Sayeeda Warsi was a guest speaker at S J Berwin’s ‘Women in Leadership’ dinner on Tuesday 12th February. Speaking on the topic ‘overcoming the fear of failure’, Baroness Warsi talked about women’s empowerment issues and gave a personal account of her journey into frontline politics.
Sayeeda attended the Royal Rose Luncheon Club today, and gave an address focussing on her role as Shadow Minister for Community Cohesion and Social Action. Baroness Warsi discussed her views for making society in Britain more united through an emphasis on common values and a shared history.
